Magistrate John Manso Fornah of Pademba Road Court No. 2 has refused bail to 33-year-old tailor Alimamy Bangura, who is facing allegations of larceny, burglary and malicious damage, and has remanded him at the Male Correctional Centre in Freetown.
Bangura is facing two counts of burglary and larceny, contrary to Section 25(1) and 25(13)(a) of the Larceny Act 1916, and malicious damage, contrary to Section 51 of the Malicious Damage Act 1861.
According to the particulars of the offences, on Monday, August 24, 2026, at No. 32K Bendus Drive, Beach Road, Lumley, Western Area, Freetown, Bangura allegedly broke into the dwelling house of Halima Kis-Kamara with intent to steal.
The court was told that the accused allegedly stole three air conditioners, four gallons of chemicals, one big bag of mastic and other assorted items, with a total value of Le61, 965, belonging to Kis-Kamara.
The second count alleged that, on the same date and at the same location, Bangura maliciously damaged eight outdoor air-conditioning units and three indoor air-conditioning units, valued at Le36, 000, also belonging to Kis-Kamara.
When the charges were read and explained to the accused, no plea was taken, as the matter is proceeding by way of committal proceedings.
The prosecution, led by Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Sorie Conteh, informed the court that the accused had been served with copies of the case and inquiry file.
Magistrate Fornah subsequently refused bail, citing the seriousness of the alleged offences, and remanded Bangura at the Male Correctional Centre.
The matter was adjourned to September 24, 2026.
