The Government of Sierra Leone has officially launched a Coordination and Visualization Platform, a digital tool aimed at strengthening collaboration among Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs), improving accountability, and supporting data-driven decision-making in public service delivery.
The platform is designed to provide government institutions with timely, accurate, and integrated data to monitor performance, identify service delivery gaps, and make informed policy and investment decisions that will accelerate national development.
Speaking at the launch ceremony, Deputy Minister of Water Resources and Sanitation, Ing. Francis Alpha Kallon, described the initiative as a significant milestone in Sierra Leone’s digital transformation agenda, noting that it demonstrates the Government’s commitment to promoting transparency, efficiency, and effective governance.
He commended the Office of the Chief Minister, the Ministry of Communication, Technology and Innovation, the Directorate of Science, Technology and Innovation (DSTI), and Catholic Relief Services (CRS) for their collaboration and support in developing the platform.
According to Ing. Kallon, the system will provide government institutions with a centralized source of reliable information to improve planning, monitor performance, and enhance the delivery of public services.
He explained that improved access to integrated data will strengthen coordination across government institutions while promoting transparency and accountability in the implementation of national development programmes.
The Deputy Mi nister highlighted the platform’s potential to transform service delivery in key sectors, including Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH), urban resilience, and disaster risk management. He noted that the system will enable institutions to track progress, identify challenges, and prioritize critical interventions.
Representing the Ministry of Water Resources and Sanitation, Ing. Kallon said the platform would improve sector coordination, strengthen project monitoring, and support evidence-based investment decisions aimed at expanding access to safe drinking water and improved sanitation services across Sierra Leone.
He emphasized that reliable and accessible data is essential to achieving the country’s development goals, urging government institutions to embrace collaboration, responsible data sharing, and the use of evidence in policymaking.
“The success of this platform will depend not only on the technology itself, but also on our willingness to collaborate, share information, and use evidence to guide policies and programmes that improve the lives of our citizens,” he said.
Ing. Kallon further encouraged stronger partnerships between government institutions and development partners, describing digital innovation as a critical tool for improving governance and achieving sustainable national development.
The launch ceremony concluded with the Deputy Minister joining the Country Director of Catholic Relief Services in the symbolic unveiling of the platform, underscoring the strong partnership between the Government of Sierra Leone and its development partners.
The Coordination and Visualization Platform is expected to play a vital role in improving government coordination, strengthening performance monitoring, and ensuring that development interventions are aligned with national priorities and the needs of citizens.
