Abubakarr Sesay, Alpha Kamara, Dauda Kelfala Sesay, and Abubakarr Kabia made their first appearance before Principal Magistrate Mustapha Braima Jah of the Freetown Magistrate Court No. 1 on Thursday, October 9, 2025, charged with allegedly robbing two Indian nationals of gold and assorted properties valued at over 800,000 Leones.

The defendants were arraigned on ten counts of conspiracy contrary to law and robbery with aggravation under Section 23(1)(a) of the Larceny Act of 1916, as repealed and replaced by Section 1 of the Death Penalty Act of 2022 (Act No. 6 of 2022).

The indictment states that the defendants, between May 1 and May 31, 2025, in Mabruka Town, conspired to commit robbery with aggravation.

The indictment further alleges that, on the same dates, the defendants, being armed with a pistol, robbed Mukesh Ray of 30,000 Indian Rupees (equivalent to 8,310 Leones), 30,000 US Dollars (equivalent to 723,000 Leones), a quantity of gold, and 665 Euros (equivalent to 16,758 Leones), along with other valuable items. The total value of the stolen goods is stated to be 854,291 Leones, the property of Mukesh Ray.

No plea was taken from the defendants after the charges were read and explained to them.

The defendants appeared in court without legal representation, and no bail application was made on their behalf. They were remanded in custody and the matter was adjourned to October 16, 2025, for further hearing.
