Ibrahim Sorie Koroma, a 37-year-old businessman, made his first appearance before Magistrate Mustapha Braima Jah of Pademba Road Court No. 1 in Freetown on a charge of larceny, contrary to Section 2 of the Larceny Act 1916.
According to the particulars of the offence, on September 8, 2025, at the House of Parliament in the Western Area of Freetown, Koroma is alleged to have stolen one black leather bag containing $10,000 USD, 4,060 Sierra Leonean Leones, a Watts power bank, a Samsung mobile phone, and assorted items, with a total value of 260,560 Leones, all the property of John Melvin Kuminah.
When the charge was read and explained to the defendant, no plea was taken.
The prosecutor, Sergeant 9939 Mohamed Lahai, requested a short adjournment to lead his witnesses in the case.
Meanwhile, Magistrate Jah refused bail and sent the defendant to the male correctional facility in Freetown. The matter was adjourned to October 16, 2025.
