Footballer Remanded for Alleged Possession and Dealing of Prohibited Drugs

Mohamed Kamara, a footballer, made his first appearance before Magistrate Santigie Bangura at the Pademba Road Court No. 2 in Freetown on five count charges related to the unlawful handling of prohibited drugs.

The charges against Kamara include: Collecting a prohibited drug without lawful authority, Transporting a prohibited drug without lawful authority, Exposing a prohibited drug without lawful authority, Dealing in a prohibited drug without lawful authority and Possession of a prohibited drug without lawful authority.

According to the particulars of the offence, on Wednesday, 19 March 2025, at the Lumley Police Checkpoint, Mohamed Kamara allegedly collected, transported, exposed, dealt in, and was found in possession of prohibited drugs, all without lawful authorization.

When the charges were read and explained to him in court, no plea was taken.

Prosecutor DPC 18235 Thoronka K.K. requested a short adjournment to allow time for a proper conference with his witness.

In the meantime, Magistrate Bangura remanded the accused at the Male Correctional Facility in Freetown. The matter was adjourned to 30 April 2025 for further proceedings
