Thirty-five-year-old Samuel Bengeh, a fitter, has been remanded at the Male Correctional Centre in Freetown after appearing before Magistrate Mustapha Brima Jah at Pademba Road Court No. 1 on a one-count charge of Larceny by Servant, contrary to Section 17(1) (a) of the Larceny Act, 1916.
According to the particulars of the offence, on Wednesday, 15th July 2026, at No. 5 Wellington Street, Western Area, Freetown, Bengeh, being a servant employed by Joseph Obeid, allegedly stole fuse boxes from three vehicles.
The vehicles are a Benz ML 350 4Matic, with registration number AQX 989; a Subaru L-Light, with registration number AIO 695; and a Hyundai HZOO, with registration number AJP 679.
The alleged stolen items were valued at a total of NLe18, 000 and are said to be the property of Agnes Bangura, Alhaji Foray and Tony Obeid, while in the custody of Joseph Obeid.
When the charge was read and explained to Bengeh, no plea was taken, as the matter is before the court as committal proceedings.
Deputy Superintendent of Police Eric A. Deen, Esq., informed the court that he had served the accused with a copy of the case and the inquiry file. Bengeh acknowledged receipt of the documents.
Magistrate Jah subsequently refused bail, citing the seriousness of the alleged offence, and remanded the accused at the Male Correctional Centre.
The matter was adjourned to 16th September 2026.
