These powerful words set the tone for the keynote address delivered by Hon. Sheku Ahmed Fantamadi Bangura, Minister of Finance of the Republic of Sierra Leone, at the 16th African Business Leadership Awards (ABLA) in London.
Addressing an audience of African leaders, policymakers, investors, and business executives, the Minister emphasized that credibility is the cornerstone of sustainable economic transformation. He noted that restoring investor confidence requires prudent fiscal management, transparent governance, consistent policy implementation, and an unwavering commitment to reform.
Highlighting Sierra Leone’s ongoing economic progress, Hon. Bangura stated that the Government’s reform agenda is firmly anchored in macroeconomic stability, sound public financial management, fiscal discipline, and the creation of an enabling environment that supports private sector-led growth.
He further stressed that strong institutions, responsible economic stewardship, and policy credibility are essential for attracting investment, creating jobs, promoting inclusive economic growth, and securing long-term prosperity for the people of Sierra Leone.
In a defining message, the Minister stated: “Credibility is earned through consistent action, disciplined leadership, and the courage to pursue reforms that build confidence at home and abroad.”
The keynote address underscored Sierra Leone’s commitment to responsible economic governance and sustainable development, reinforcing the country’s growing reputation as a reform-oriented nation. It also highlighted Sierra Leone’s increasing appeal as an emerging destination for investment and strategic partnerships across the African continent.
