Every Nation Primary School, Agriculture Road Pujehun, Wednesday, 7th February, 2024- Taking a significant step towards enhancing digital education, Voluntary Service Overseas has rolled out a transformative project, providing state-of-the-art digital learning tools to beneficiary schools in the Pujehun district.
Led by the Chief Administrator of Pujehun District Council, Sahr Emmanuel Yambasu, key educational stakeholders marked the occasion with a symbolic ribbon-cutting ceremony and the presentation of digital transformation tools at Every Nation Primary School.
This groundbreaking initiative, part of the “Building Foundational Learning through Technology” project, witnessed the convergence of representatives from the Ministry of Basic and Senior Secondary Education, Republic of Sierra Leone Armed Forces, parents, teachers, media practitioners, and officials from Voluntary Service Overseas.
Emmanuel Fallah Focko, the Education and Technology Project Officer of Voluntary Service Overseas, served as the chairman of the occasion, emphasizing VSO’s mission to elevate the learning outcomes of early-grade learners in literacy and numeracy.
Focko disclosed that the project aims to benefit 7,000 pupils, urging all stakeholders to take active ownership. In his keynote address, C.A Yambaso expressed gratitude to VSO for introducing digital transformation methods, not only enriching the education of early-grade learners but also aligning with the government’s efforts to position Sierra Leone as a global player in technology and innovation.
Yambaso utilized the platform to enlighten beneficiary schools about the myriad opportunities and importance of digital learning, urging them to embrace and take ownership of the project.
Representing the Ministry of Basic and Senior Secondary Education, Emmanuel Margai, School Quality Assurance Officer, extended appreciation to VSO for pioneering digital learning in Pujehun district schools, marking a significant milestone in educational advancement.
