Engineer Michael Priddy has been awarded a 20-Year Service Medal in recognition of his outstanding contributions to the European Union’s development work in Sierra Leone, with officials highlighting his role in transforming connectivity and livelihoods across the country.

The European Union Ambassador to Sierra Leone, Jacek Jankowski, presented the award, marking two decades of dedicated service and a legacy of impact.

From road infrastructure to energy and education initiatives, Priddy’s work has significantly improved connectivity and living standards nationwide. EU officials noted that his technical expertise and strong commitment have been central to delivering infrastructure that connects communities, powers households, and expands access to education.

The award recognises contributions across multiple sectors. EU-funded road projects supported by Priddy have enhanced transport links between districts, reducing travel time and boosting trade. Energy initiatives have extended electricity to underserved communities, while education projects have improved school facilities and learning environments.

The 20-Year Service Medal reflects sustained commitment to EU development cooperation in Sierra Leone. Delegation representatives emphasised that long-term engagement by technical experts like Priddy is critical to effective project delivery and sustainability.

Priddy’s service also reflects the EU’s broader partnership with Sierra Leone in advancing infrastructure, energy access, and human capital development. His work aligns with national priorities aimed at improving connectivity, expanding economic opportunities, and strengthening social services.

The EU Delegation in Freetown praised his dedication, describing his two decades of service as a legacy of impact that continues to shape development outcomes across the country.

The medal underscores the importance of individual commitment in advancing EU-Sierra Leone cooperation in key sectors such as roads, energy, and education.
