The Equatorial Guinea National Team punished Leone Stars of Sierra Leone by a goal to nil in the AFCON Qualifiers in Yaounde Cameroon.
Zuniga’s first-minute strike was enough to hand Equatorial Guinea all three points against Sierra Leone in Matchday Two of the ongoing AFCON 2027 qualifiers in Cameroon.
The defeat extends Sierra Leone’s disappointment under new head coach Da Rosa, with the Leone Stars suffering two defeats in two outings.
Sierra Leone remains at the bottom of the group without a point, while DR Congo continues their dominant run with a 2-1 win over Zimbabwe, making it two wins from two and taking them to six points.
Zimbabwe and Equatorial Guinea sit level on three points each, leaving Sierra Leone with an uphill battle in the race for qualification.
Sierra Leone has now suffered two back to back defeats for the first time in a competitive Africa Cup of Nations Qualifiers for the last two decades. The result is not what the people of Sierra Leone are looking out for in the third Africa Cup of Nations Qualifiers.
Sierra Leone will return to actions again in November when they will have to take on DR Congo in two double headers one match day three and four in the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations Qualifiers.
The task of qualifying has now become more difficult to get the qualifications done as things stand now.
