In a bid to assess progress and ensure the timely implementation of key education projects across Sierra Leone, Chief Minister Dr. David Moinina Sengeh has held a high-level meeting with the Sierra Leone Education Sector Support Project (SLESSP) team on 6th November 2024.

The meeting, convened at State House, focused on evaluating ongoing initiatives, addressing challenges, and identifying solutions to accelerate project delivery in line with the government’s education agenda.

Speaking at the event, Mr. Mustapha Wai, Team Lead of the Project Fiduciary Management Unit (PFMU), emphasized the importance of collaboration among all stakeholders. “We are here because we have a mandate to fulfill,” he stated. He highlighted that the meeting served as a platform for fostering stronger partnerships between contractors, consultants, and project coordinators. The ultimate goal, according to Wai, is to expedite the delivery of contracts and meet the expectations of the government’s mandate for improving education infrastructure and services.

Mr. Wai further provided updates on the various contractors managing project sites and their progress, stressing the importance of addressing challenges at the implementation stage to ensure successful outcomes.

Acting Project Coordinator for the SLESSP, Ing. Monica Sellu Kamara, also addressed the gathering, providing insights into the technical aspects of the project. She outlined the significant milestones achieved thus far and pointed out areas requiring immediate attention.

The Chief Minister commended the team for their efforts and reaffirmed the government’s commitment to supporting the SLESSP in achieving its goals. He stressed that education remains a top priority for the government and that collaborative efforts are critical for delivering impactful results.

The Sierra Leone Education Sector Support Project is a flagship initiative aimed at transforming the education sector through improved infrastructure, teacher training, and access to quality learning materials. The meeting underscores the government’s proactive approach to ensuring that its vision for inclusive and equitable education is realized.

The Chief Minister’s engagement with the SLESSP team is part of his broader commitment to monitoring and evaluating key national projects, ensuring accountability, and fostering partnerships for national development.
