A 32-year-old businesswoman, Marie Bangura, has been remanded at the Female Correctional Centre in Freetown after making her first appearance before Magistrate Mustapha Brima Jah of Pademba Road Court No. 1 on a charge of larceny in a dwelling house, contrary to Section 13(a) of the Larceny Act of 1916.

According to the charge sheet, the accused is alleged to have committed the offence on 14 December 2025 at Lumthubul Resort, Bureh Beach, in the Western Area Rural District.

The prosecution alleges that Bangura, with intent to steal, entered the resort room occupied by Stafeno Sioli and stole €3,500 (Three Thousand Five Hundred Euros), reportedly equivalent to NLe94,500, the property of the complainant.

When the charge was read and explained in court, no plea was taken because the matter is before the court for committal proceedings.

Prosecuting the matter, Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Eric A. Deen, Esq., informed the court that the prosecution had served the accused with copies of the case file and the preliminary inquiry documents.

Magistrate Jah refused bail, citing the seriousness of the offence, and ordered that the accused be remanded at the Female Correctional Centre pending further proceedings.

The matter was adjourned to 22 July 2026 for continuation of the committal proceedings.
