Mohamed Sheriff, a barber, has made another appearance before Magistrate John Manso Fornah at Pademba Road Court No. 2 in Freetown on a charge of fraudulent conversion, contrary to Section 20(1)(iv)(a) of the Larceny Act of 1916.
According to the particulars of the offence, the defendant allegedly, on Monday, 7 September 2026, at No. 21 Abbott Street, Freetown, in the Western Area of Sierra Leone, fraudulently converted to his own use or benefit three smartwatches entrusted to him by Salim Swarray for the purpose of sale.
The three smartwatches were each valued at NLe 500, bringing the total value to NLe 1,500.
When the charge was read and explained to the defendant, no plea was taken, as the matter is before the court for committal proceedings.
The prosecutor, Police Constable Thoranka K.K., informed the court that the complainant and prosecution witnesses were absent.
Following their absence, Magistrate Fornah ordered that subpoenas be issued and served on the absent prosecution witnesses to ensure their attendance in court.
The matter was subsequently adjourned to 11 November 2026 for further proceedings.
