Arsenal secured a hard-fought 1–0 victory over Aston Villa on August 31, with Bukayo Saka scoring the decisive second-half goal.
The Gunners found the breakthrough after Saka finished off a well-worked move involving new signings Eberechi Eze and Riccardo Calafiori, securing all three points for Mikel Arteta’s side.
The victory keeps Arsenal’s strong start to the Premier League campaign on track, although the performance also raised questions about the team’s attacking options.
Much of the post-match discussion centred on Viktor Gyökeres, who endured another difficult outing after being handed a starting role. His struggles in front of goal have led to frustration among sections of Arsenal’s fan base.
Some supporters took to X to question Arteta’s decision to start the Swedish striker, with one fan writing: “There was a point where it was a debate whether he is a good footballer or not.”
Arteta, however, has continued to back Gyökeres and promised to give him more minutes as he adapts to Arsenal’s style of play.
Despite the concerns surrounding the striker, Saka’s goal proved enough to earn Arsenal a valuable victory away from home. Arteta will now hope his attacking players can find greater consistency as the season progresses and the Gunners face tougher challenges.
