As a proud native of Kassirie, Mr. Sesay embarked on his academic journey at KDC Primary School. Later, he attended Samu Baptist Secondary School, where he distinguished himself and ascended to the esteemed position of head boy. Following his studies, he moved to Freetown, where he continued to pursue his educational aspirations.
Throughout his journey, Mr. Sesay has felt a deep desire to inspire and uplift the younger generation of academics in his homeland, driven by his firsthand experiences of the transformative power of education.
Motivated by the legacy of his grandfather, Mr A.B. Kargbo, the former principal of Samu Baptist Secondary School, Mr Annas Sesay returned to his roots on January 13, 2025. With a generous spirit, he donated essential learning materials and sanitary supplies to the students of his former schools. At KDC Primary School, young learners received a wealth of resources, including textbooks, mathematics sets, pencils, pens, and erasers. In addition, essential administrative materials, such as notebooks and dictionaries, were entrusted to the dedicated staff.
At Samu Baptist Secondary School, Mr. Sesay’s contributions continued to make a significant impact. He provided sanitary pads for the girls, alongside soaps, calculators, pens, and additional textbooks for the eager students. This act of kindness not only delivers an academic boost but also serves as a powerful encouragement for others to follow in his footsteps. In an interview, Mr Sesay expressed his intention: “Out of the little I have, I brought these items to support pupils in recognising the importance of dedicating themselves to their studies, as the rewards are abundant.”
The principal of Samu Baptist Secondary School conveyed his heartfelt gratitude on behalf of the entire administration, praising Mr. Annas for his selfless act. “This donation stands as a testament to what it truly means to be educated. Mr. Annas has returned to give back, having experienced the enriching benefits of education firsthand. This is a visual lesson for us all,” he concluded emphatically.
Senior teacher Mr Yillah lauded Mr Annas for his remarkable support, emphasising the urgent need for other alumni to emulate such noble examples. Mr. Patrick Bangura, representing the chief, also expressed heartfelt appreciation on behalf of the entire community of Kassirie. “Education is indeed the key to success,” he proclaimed. “Mr. Annas has set a remarkable milestone among the former students of KDC Primary School and Samu Baptist Secondary School. We hope to see more alumni take initiative for the betterment of education and the development of our township,” he concluded.
