Abdulai Barrie, a final-year student of Political Science and International Relations, has been elected as the new chairperson of the Students’ Representative Council (SRC) at the University of Makeni (UniMak).
Barrie’s victory in the SRC presidential run reflects his successful election campaign and wide support from the student body.
In his campaign, the current best orator at the University of Makeni vowed to make the SRC financially self-reliant and promote student-centered initiatives.
Enticed by his manifesto, the student delegates flooded the poll with votes in support of Barrie, giving him a historic victory.
Speaking to this medium after he was announced winner of the recently concluded SRC election, Barrie expressed gratitude to the student body for their trust and support, adding that he is committed to making the SRC more responsive to the needs of the students.
“I am excited to be elected as the new chairperson of the Students’ Representative Council. It is, indeed, an honour to lead the SRC to a new era of self-reliance. I thank the student body for their trust and support. I promise to make the SRC more responsive to the needs of the students, ” Abdulai Barrie said.
His tenure promises to focus on key areas such as students’ welfare services, academic excellence, scholarship opportunities, and advocacy to build a robust student-lecturer community.
