National Civil Registration Climax: Kambia indigenes Call for More Time

The national civil registration authority (NCRA) started its registration and confirmation exercise on Monday 26th July 2021 across Kambia district.  The exercise is now due to end on August 4th as disclosed by the district NCRA team.

According to the civil society movement Chairman Kambia District Gibril  Gottor  the process involved  lot of challenges  ranging from insufficient centers,  lack of trained personnels, and many community members presently engaged in agricultural activities.

 Chairman Gottor called on the management of NCRA at national level for an extension of the exercise because the process is involved for both new registration and confirmation of personal details of registrants.

He ended by recommending for an extension of one week so that those engaged on agricultural activities will have the opportunity to benefit the process.

Speaking to A-Z newspaper the  District registrations  office of NCRA Kambia district Ibrahim Kamara confirmed that indeed the process is successful in some parts of the district but in other areas they have encountered challenges because of the road network and the raining season and the lack of proper sensitization to interior communities.

He also affirmed that it will be good if the national body extends the process to three days or one week.

DRO Kamara called on community stakeholders to engage their compatriots at sections, Chiefdom level to explain to them in details the importance of the exercise.

Pa Alimamy speaking section Chief Samu  chiefdom said many community members  Presently engaged in farming activities l leave first thing in the morning and return late in the evening which has somewhat undermine the process.
