Reigning Marampa Mines Women’s Premier League champions Mogbwemo Queens maintained their perfect start to the season with a commanding 3-1 victory over Southern rivals Ram Kamara FC in the Southern Derby, scoring all three goals in an impressive first-half performance.

Fatmata Turay opened the scoring in the 15th minute with a powerful volley, extending her impressive contribution to all four of Mogbwemo Queens’ league matches this season, with two goals and two assists.

Adama Jalloh doubled the advantage four minutes later, heading home from a corner kick in the 19th minute to take her league tally to three goals.

Jalloh has enjoyed an impressive debut season at Mogbwemo Queens following her transfer from FC Kallon Female, recording five goal contributions in four league appearances.

Ram Kamara FC responded in the 26th minute through forward Mariama Sambu, whose goal ended Mogbwemo Queens’ clean-sheet record in the ongoing campaign.

However, Mogbwemo Queens quickly reasserted their dominance when Fanta Daouda Nabe restored their two-goal advantage in the 37th minute. The strike was Nabe’s first goal of the season, capping an outstanding performance that earned her the Woman of the Match award.

The victory extended Mogbwemo Queens’ winning run and strengthened their position at the top of the league, opening a five-point gap over their Southern rivals, who finished as runners-up last season.

Chief Executive Officer of Mogbwemo Queens, Emmanuel Sahr Tondoneh, described the victory as particularly memorable, as it came around the celebration of his 12th wedding anniversary, which was marked a day after the derby.

“Ten years of investment, sacrifice, and commitment have certainly not been in vain,” he reflected, expressing satisfaction with the team’s progress.

Mogbwemo Queens remain firmly in contention for a second consecutive league title. They currently hold a two-point advantage over FC Kallon Female and are preparing to host Rising Queens FC next weekend in their second home fixture of the campaign.

The encounter will also mark the first of four fixtures scheduled for November as the reigning champions continue their pursuit of back-to-back league titles.
