A 22-year-old man, Amiru Sallieu Bah, has been sentenced to four years’ imprisonment after pleading guilty to stealing 15 ladies’ handbags valued at Le7, 500.
Bah was sentenced on Monday, October 19, 2026, by Magistrate Mustapha Briama Jah of Pademba Road Court No. 1 in Freetown.
He was charged with larceny, contrary to Section 2 of the Larceny Act of 1916. According to the particulars of the offence, on Saturday, October 3, 2026, at ECOWAS Street, off Siaka Stevens Street in Freetown, Bah stole 15 ladies’ handbags valued at Le7, 500 belonging to Alice Koroma, who had entrusted them to Osman Koroma’s custody.
When the charge was read and explained to him, Bah pleaded guilty.
The prosecutor, Inspector Kadie Taylor, informed the court that Bah had no previous criminal record and was therefore a first-time offender. The defendant was not legally represented during the proceedings.
Following his guilty plea and the presentation of the facts of the case, Magistrate Jah sentenced him to four years’ imprisonment.
