Eleven men accused of carrying offensive weapons, throwing missiles, engaging in riotous conduct and behaving disorderly at Kroo Town Road in Freetown have been granted bail by Magistrate Mustapha Brima Jah of Pademba Road Court No. 1.
The accused are Foday Kargbo, Daniel Morray, Alusine Bah, Ibrahim Bangura, Ibrahim Mansaray, Mohamed Sesay, Musa Kamara, Byron Browne, Mohamed Sesay, Patrick Swarray and Bannister Samba.
They are facing four charges under the Public Order Act, including carrying an offensive weapon without lawful authority or reasonable excuse, contrary to Section 16(1) of the Public Order Act No. 46 of 1965; throwing missiles, contrary to Section 6 of the same Act; riotous conduct, contrary to Section 12(1) of the Act, as repealed and replaced by Act No. 15 of 1973; and disorderly behaviour, contrary to Section 12 of the Act, as amended by Section 15 of Act No. 2 of 1973.
According to the particulars of the offences, the alleged incidents occurred on Sunday, 13 September 2026, at Kroo Town Road and its surrounding areas in the Western Area of Freetown.
The first count alleges that the accused carried offensive weapons in a public place without lawful authority or reasonable excuse.
The second count accuses them of throwing missiles at combined operational police personnel at the same location and on the same date. The third count alleges that they engaged in riotous conduct, while the fourth accuses them of behaving in a disorderly manner.
When the charges were read and explained to them in court, all eleven accused persons pleaded not guilty.
Magistrate Jah subsequently granted each accused bail in the sum of NLe 100,000, with two sureties in like sum. The sureties are required to produce their National Identification Cards, and the bail is to be signed by the court’s Deputy Assistant (DA).
The matter was adjourned to 2 November 2026 for further proceedings.
