The Electoral Commission for Sierra Leone (ECSL) on Monday, September 21, 2026, hosted a delegation from the ECOWAS Network of Electoral Commissions (ECONEC) at its headquarters in Tower Hill, Freetown.
The visit formed part of ECONEC’s post-election follow-up and needs assessment engagement with Sierra Leone ahead of forthcoming elections.
The engagement provided an opportunity for ECONEC and ECSL to exchange experiences, discuss electoral practices, assess emerging needs, and strengthen cooperation among Election Management Bodies (EMBs) across the ECOWAS region.
ECONEC is a network comprising the Election Management Bodies of the 15 ECOWAS member states. It promotes free, fair and credible elections through peer learning, the exchange of best practices, technical support, needs assessments, and joint electoral observation and follow-up missions.
The ECSL welcomed ECONEC’s continued engagement and cooperation, noting that such partnerships can contribute to strengthening electoral processes and institutional capacity across the West African region.
