President of Africa Boxing, Mr. Solomon Desmond Kargbo, on Thursday, 10th September 2026, officially launched the Elite Level One Boxing Coaching Course at the OlympAfrica Centre in Goderich, Freetown.
The seven-day training programme, funded by Olympic Solidarity, the National Olympic Committee of Sierra Leone and World Boxing, has brought together 30 coaches from Sierra Leone and five international coaches from The Gambia, Seychelles, Somalia, Togo and Namibia.
Speaking at the opening ceremony, Kargbo described the course as a significant opportunity for coaches to strengthen their technical knowledge and improve their coaching skills.
He encouraged participants to remain focused and make full use of the training, which is being facilitated by international instructor William Brethren.
Kargbo said coaches who successfully complete the course and pass the final examination will receive a coaching licence, qualifying them to participate in boxing competitions and programmes internationally.
He further urged the participants to demonstrate commitment and dedication throughout the seven-day programme, noting that the knowledge and skills acquired would contribute to the continued growth and development of boxing in Sierra Leone and across Africa.
The course will conclude with a final examination at the end of the training programme. The Sierra Leone Boxing Association, as host of the event, will monitor and supervise the training from its commencement to completion.
