Twenty-four-year-old Mohamed Kamara and Abdul Kargbo, a labourer, have been remanded at the Male Correctional Facility in Freetown by Magistrate Mustapha Brima Jah of Pademba Road Court No. 1.
The two accused are facing three counts of Conspiracy Contrary to Law, Larceny Contrary to Section 2 of the Larceny Act 1916, and Malicious Damage Contrary to Section 51 of the Malicious Damage Act 1861.
According to the particulars of the offence, between 1 and 27 May 2026, at the Attorney General and Minister of Justice Building on Lamina Sankoh Street, Freetown, the accused allegedly conspired with other persons, unknown, to commit a felony, namely larceny.
Count Two alleged that, during the same period and at the same location, the accused stole 48 air conditioners, 16 steel doors, 24 double-slide glass windows, three EDSA meters, and other assorted items belonging to the Attorney General and Ministry of Justice.
Count Three further alleged that the accused maliciously damaged four wooden doors, property of the Attorney General and Ministry of Justice.
When the charges were read and explained to the accused, no plea was taken, as the matter is proceeding by way of committal proceedings.
The prosecution was represented by Deputy Superintendent of Police Eric A. Deen, who informed the court that both accused had been served with copies of the case and inquiry files.
Both accused acknowledged receipt of the documents.
Meanwhile, Magistrate Jah refused bail, citing the seriousness of the alleged offences, and remanded the accused at the Male Correctional Facility.
The matter has been adjourned to 10 September 2026.
