These interventions are designed to address practical community needs, create opportunities particularly for young people and strengthen sustainable relationships between the company and its stakeholders.

LRMG therefore undertakes CSR not merely as philanthropy, but as a long-term investment in people, communities and Sierra Leone’s development. By supporting education, livelihoods, infrastructure, environmental sustainability, youth empowerment and vulnerable groups, the company seeks to leave a meaningful and measurable positive impact wherever it operates and across the country.

Why Leone Rock Metal Group is a Leading Mining Company in Sierra Leone

Leone Rock Metal Group has established a significant position within Sierra Leone’s mining industry through the scale and integration of its operations. The company operates an integrated mine-to-rail-to-port value chain, linking its Tonkolili iron ore operations with a 192-kilometre railway and the Pepel Port.

Beyond its operational scale, LRMG’s contribution to the country’s economy is also reflected in employment and investment. The company has more than 8,000 Sierra Leonean employees and continues to invest in infrastructure, local workforce development, and value addition.

The company’s approach is built around the belief that mining should contribute to broader national development. Through its partnerships with government institutions, communities, youth organizations, educational bodies, and professional associations, LRMG seeks to ensure that its presence in Sierra Leone creates opportunities beyond the extraction and export of minerals.

In 2026 alone, LRMG has supported over 70 projects with Nle 1,800,000 across Sierra Leone, demonstrating its continued commitment to community development. These interventions include  the construction of ICS Primary School in Bo;  cement to support the construction of the Makeni Military Barracks;  vocational training materials, including tailoring machines and other equipment; and  construction of a community centre in Port Loko, among many other initiatives.
