Yusufu Jah has been sentenced to 40 months imprisonment by Magistrate Mary Julia Gbloh after pleading guilty to one count of larceny, contrary to Section 2 of the Larceny Act, 1916.
According to the particulars of the offence, Jah, on Saturday, April 11, 2026, at Kamanda Farm, behind Fourah Bay College in Freetown, allegedly stole several items belonging to Alhassan Mansaray.
The stolen items included one black ACC laptop computer, one Tecno Spark 8 mobile phone, one black Samsung S23 mobile phone, one large black power bank, one large orange WiFi device, two pairs of sneakers, one brown bedsheet, and one brown bag.
The bag allegedly contained Le2,000, a student identification card, and a voter identification card.
The total value of the stolen items was estimated at Le18,050.
When the charge was read and explained to him, Jah pleaded guilty before the court.
Following his guilty plea, the prosecution presented relevant documents in evidence, after which both the convict and the complainant were given an opportunity to address the court.
In her sentencing remarks, Magistrate Gbloh described the offence as serious and said the convict’s actions demonstrated an aggravating disregard for the law and the rights of the complainant.
The court noted that Jah’s conduct reflected impatience and deliberate wrongdoing rather than an act resulting from financial difficulty or poor judgment.
Based on the circumstances surrounding the offence, Magistrate Gbloh sentenced Yusufu Jah to 40 months imprisonment.
