Following his appointment by President Julius Maada Bio, Ahmid C. Jalloh was on Tuesday, 4th July 2026, approved by Members of Parliament as the new Chairman Board of Trustees of the Conservative Trust Fund (CTF).
The motion for his approval was moved by the Majority Leader and Leader of Government Business, who cited Jalloh’s extensive experience in environmental management, institutional development, and resource mobilization.
Ahmid Chernor Jalloh was born in Sewafe, Kono District, in the early 1990s. His childhood was shaped by the civil war, but that did not deter his pursuit of education. From a young age, Jalloh demonstrated leadership. He excelled in the NPSE exams, making SLMYCO Primary School stand out in the district and nationally.
At Sewafe Secondary School, he maintained high academic and social performance before proceeding to Murialdo Secondary School in Lunsar, known for its strong academic tradition. As a Senior Prefect, Jalloh was active in academics, drama, and sports, and was recognized for his leadership both in and out of school.
In 2011, Jalloh gained admission to the School of Agriculture at Njala University. On campus, he emerged as a strategic student leader. He was noted for mobilizing resources and sensitizing students during the Ebola pandemic, including spearheading the donation of handwashing buckets to hostels. He was also active in the SLPP Njala Student Union. Despite the challenges, he completed a Bachelor of Science (Hons) in Agricultural Science in 2016.
Even before graduating, Jalloh began his professional work. In 2015, he worked with Building Markets as an enumerator on a post-Ebola cross-border market survey. In 2016, he joined Living Water International as a Supervisor for the Presidential Recovery Priority – Health & WASH project, overseeing the construction of toilets and boreholes for 6 PHUs in Western Area Rural District.
From 2017 to 2018, he served as Field Supervisor for Data Collection with GAFSP, IPA, and FAO, gaining extensive experience in farming systems and value chains across all districts.
In 2019, he became Programs Manager at Legallia Foundation, an NGO focused on environment and sustainability. There, he secured the organization’s first competitive UNDP GEF Small Grant and introduced clear operational policies and a strategic plan.
By the end of 2020, Jalloh was appointed Executive Director of YARDO-SL, a youth-led environmental NGO. Within one year, he transformed it from a CBO to a nationally recognized NGO: establishing a new website, office, technical team, policy manual, and strategic plan. Under his leadership, YARDO-SL became the lead local partner for the Freetown City Council’s flagship “Freetown The Treetown” project, coordinating tree planting in over 13 communities.
Since 2020, Jalloh has led successful grant applications, winning funding from GDN, UNDP GEF, IKI, WRI, One Tree Planted, AFR100, and KoreaSHE, among others. This enabled YARDO-SL to restore over 500ha, plant 500,000+ trees, create 500+ jobs, train 1,000+ community climate ambassadors, and support 500+ women with skills development.
He has also contributed to global policy through YOUNGO, COP sessions, the Bosch Africa Forum, and the Global Youth Summit. Locally, he serves on CSO networks and technical working groups, contributing to the Freetown City Climate Action Plan, NBSAP, and NDC. As a consultant, he has worked with Green Scenery, EFA, ID, 60 Decibels, and Joyn-coop on EIAs, nurseries, and research.
Jalloh holds an MBA in Project Management from Njala University (2021), an MPhil in Operations Management from UCAM-Spain, and is completing a Doctorate in Business Administration from the same institution. He is also pursuing an MSc in Green Economy, Sustainability and Climate Change Management at Xenophon College London, expected in 2027. He holds multiple certifications in project management, nature finance, and operations.
Jalloh has authored 10+ academic publications on food security, catchment management, and climate adaptation. He is also the author of Fatima: The Brave Little Girl, a children’s book on river pollution.
He has won Awards which include: Ashoka Changemaker Fellow, Bai Bureh Award for Empowerment 2022, GDN Most Innovative Development Project 2022, GYC Climate Champion 2022, National Youth Leadership Award 2025, and Coastal Resilience Network Excellence Award 2026.
Jalloh is also a social entrepreneur. He co-founded Weli Agrolinks SL Ltd to address farm finance and input challenges, and http://Coursepaddy.com, a digital learning platform for affordable education.
Outlining his Strategic vision, Jalloh said his immediate priority is to restore order and direction at the Conservative Trust Fund, which has operated without a substantive leader for over a year. He plans to restructure the institution, enforce compliance, and improve operational efficiency to curb financial leakages.
Long term, he aims to develop sustainable local resource mobilization models, such as biodiversity offset fees, and leverage his background in partnerships and grant writing to attract support from the EU, World Bank, and UN.
After his appointment, Ahmid C. Jalloh has called on development partners to treat the Conservative Trust Fund as a strategic vehicle for sustainable development. “With support, we can enable NPAA to protect our parks and forests which provide water, air, food, tourism, and other ecosystem services,” he said.
He also urged businesses and residents in protected areas to comply with regulations, including the payment of offset fees, to equip forest guards with the tools and training needed to work safely and effectively.
