The Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security (MAFS), in collaboration with its development partners, has commenced a three-day mid-year review workshop to assess the implementation of agricultural projects’ 2026 Annual Work Plans and Budgets, with the aim of accelerating progress under the Government’s Feed Salone initiative.
The workshop, being held at De Wizard Hotel in Bo City, has brought together project managers, technical experts, implementing partners and senior officials from the ministry to evaluate achievements recorded during the first half of 2026, identify implementation challenges and agree on practical measures to improve project delivery in the remaining months of the year.
According to officials, the review provides an opportunity for government and development partners to assess the progress of ongoing projects, strengthen coordination and ensure that planned objectives are achieved effectively.
Speaking at the opening ceremony, the Minister of Agriculture and Food Security, Dr. Henry Musa Kpaka, emphasized the importance of stronger collaboration among agricultural projects, noting that coordinated efforts are essential to achieving the goals of the Feed Salone programme.
Dr. Kpaka stated that although the various projects operate with different mandates and objectives, they all contribute to the broader national agenda of transforming Sierra Leone’s agricultural sector. He encouraged project teams to avoid working in isolation and instead promote collaboration, knowledge sharing and joint problem-solving.
“We cannot achieve concrete results if we work in silos. We must collaborate, coordinate and share experiences among ourselves. By working as one team, we can address challenges more effectively and deliver greater impact for our farmers and the nation,” the Minister said.
He further urged participants to use the workshop as a platform to identify operational challenges, share lessons learned and develop practical strategies that will improve project implementation and enhance benefits for farming communities across the country.
During the first day of the review, officials from the Food Systems Resilience Programme (FSRP) and the Livestock and Livelihood Development Project (LLDP) presented updates on their respective activities and achievements. Participants reviewed the presentations and provided recommendations aimed at strengthening implementation and improving overall project performance.
The three-day workshop is expected to conclude with agreed actions to enhance coordination among agricultural projects, address implementation gaps and accelerate the delivery of the Feed Salone agenda during the second half of 2026.
