The Audit Service Sierra Leone (ASSL) has reaffirmed its commitment to producing timely and high-quality audit reports following a one-day Mid-Year Review Meeting held to assess its performance during the first half of 2026 and develop strategies for the remainder of the year.
The meeting, held at the Country Lodge Hotel in Freetown, brought together the institution’s management and staff to evaluate progress made between January and June 2026, identify challenges, and outline measures to strengthen the implementation of ASSL’s constitutional audit mandate.
Addressing participants, Auditor-General Mr. Abdul Aziz commended staff for their dedication and commitment, urging them to remain focused on completing audit reports within statutory deadlines while ensuring proper planning for future audit engagements.
He emphasized that professionalism, collaboration, and dedication remain essential to the institution’s continued success, noting that quality, integrity, and teamwork are critical to achieving ASSL’s strategic objectives.
The Auditor-General also highlighted the importance of continuous staff development, effective quality assurance systems, and the successful implementation of the Performance Appraisal System. He noted that these measures are vital to improving individual performance and enhancing overall institutional efficiency.
Providing an operational update, ASSL Training Manager Mr. Ibrahim Sorie Kamara presented an overview of the institution’s performance from January to June 2026. He highlighted completed audits, ongoing assignments, and outstanding tasks requiring attention during the second half of the year.
The review meeting concluded with interactive planning sessions, where participants developed practical strategies to complete outstanding audits, strengthen coordination among divisions, and ensure the timely delivery of quality audit reports before the end of 2026.
The mid-year review forms part of ASSL’s broader efforts to monitor institutional performance, address implementation challenges, and promote greater accountability and transparency in the execution of its audit responsibilities.
