A young man, Peter Bockarie, has been sentenced to 12 months imprisonment at the Male Correctional Centre in Freetown by Magistrate John Manso Fornah of Pademba Road Court No. 2 after pleading guilty to two counts of larceny, contrary to Section 2 of the Larceny Act of 1916.
According to the particulars of the offence, on Monday, 22 June 2026, at No. 34 Wilberforce Street, Western Area, Freetown, the accused stole one Samsung A05 mobile phone valued at NLe3,000, belonging to Samba Kamara.
The second count stated that on the same date and location, Bockarie stole one Tecno Spark 7 mobile phone valued at NLe2,700, belonging to Edward Jabati Tommy Barrie.
When the charges were read and explained to him in court, the accused pleaded guilty to both counts.
Prosecuting the matter, DPC 18235 Kebbie K. Thoronka informed the court that the accused had no previous criminal record. He also appealed to the court to temper justice with mercy on behalf of the defendant.
In his ruling, Magistrate Fornah said he had carefully considered the facts of the case and noted that the accused had saved the court’s time by pleading guilty and was a first-time offender.
The Magistrate therefore sentenced Peter Bockarie to serve 12 months imprisonment at the Male Correctional Centre in Freetown.
