Twenty-three-year-old Habib Kargbo has been remanded at the Male Correctional Centre in Freetown after making his first appearance before Magistrate Mustapha Brima Jah of Pademba Road Court No. 1 on three criminal charges, including wounding with intent.

The accused is charged with wounding with intent, contrary to Section 18 of the Offences Against the Person Act, 1861; wounding, contrary to Section 20 of the same Act; and assault occasioning actual bodily harm, contrary to Section 47 of the Offences Against the Person Act, 1861.

According to the particulars of the offence, on Sunday, 21 June 2026, at No. 18 Garrison Street in the Western Area of Freetown, the accused allegedly wounded Alhaji Bangura with intent to cause him grievous bodily harm.

The second and third counts further allege that on the same date and at the same location, Habib Kargbo maliciously wounded and assaulted Alhaji Bangura, thereby causing him actual bodily harm.

When the charges were read and explained in court, no plea was taken from the accused because the matter is before the court as committal proceedings.

Prosecutor Inspector Kadie M. Taylor informed the court that she had served the accused with copies of the case file and the preliminary inquiry file. The accused confirmed that he had received the documents.

Magistrate Jah refused bail and ordered that the accused be remanded at the Male Correctional Centre in Freetown.

The matter was adjourned to 8 July 2026 for further proceedings.
