Haja Kadie Lansana has been commended for her leadership qualities and commitment to student development on the Fatima Campus of the University of Makeni.
Recently, she donated two bags of cement towards the ongoing construction of the Procurement Garden Project on campus. The self-funded donation, valued at NLe500, was described by the President of the Association of Procurement and Logistics Students (APLOGS), James Simbo Thullah, as a significant contribution to the department’s largest infrastructural project.
Lansana said the donation reflects her continued commitment to the growth and development of her department, adding that it demonstrates her support and dedication to student advancement.
Beyond her individual contribution, Lansana is widely recognised for her strong collaborative and leadership skills. During her tenure as Vice President of APLOGS, she earned admiration from many female students on campus for her role in driving several departmental achievements over the past academic year.
Throughout her leadership term, she worked closely with President Thullah to implement visible and impactful initiatives that strengthened financial accountability and promoted greater transparency within the association.
Their partnership contributed to the successful organization of a landmark seminar during this year’s Procurement Week, which featured the Chief Executive Officer of the National Public Procurement Authority (NPPA), Fodie J. Konneh. The association has also begun developing long-term strategic partnerships with the NPPA and other institutions aimed at expanding internship opportunities for students and enhancing practical exposure alongside academic learning.
The department also recorded improved academic performance through the introduction of structured tutorials and examination support sessions.
In addition, Lansana played an active role in the successful organization of social activities for the 2025/2026 academic year, including dinner events and campus engagement programmes that promoted unity and interaction among students.
Through funds generated from these activities and improved financial management, APLOGS was able to organize an intradepartmental debate, a football league, and provide a set of new football kits, reducing reliance on external support.
As she prepares to take on a new leadership role, Lansana has declared her candidacy for the presidency of APLOGS. She is leading the Team Dynamic Developers in the 2026 APLOGS elections, with Sitta Jalloh and Rugiatu Williams contesting for the positions of Vice President and Secretary-General respectively.
With elections approaching, several female student leaders on Fatima Campus, including Rugiatu Williams, have described Lansana as an inspiration to young women in leadership.
