On June 20, 2026, East End Lions clinched the title of the 2026 Orange FA Cup, triumphing over Mighty Blackpool with a narrow 1-0 victory in a thrilling final at Southern Arena Stadium in BO City.
The match kicked off with both teams showcasing vibrant performances. However, Mighty Blackpool dominated the first half, missing several crucial chances to take the lead. Star player Dominic Conteh squandered two prime opportunities midway through the first half, while the experienced Nigerian goalkeeper Chendu thwarted all attempts, keeping the scoreline level.
East End Lions also had their share of missed chances, with Alie Conteh and Suliman S. Kargbo unable to capitalize during fast breaks. The highly competitive first half ended in a goalless draw as both teams went into the break.
The second half began with heightened intensity as both sides aimed for victory. Mighty Blackpool maintained an composed approach initially, while East End Lions took time to gauge their opponents. The Lions’ technical team made three strategic substitutions to inject fresh energy into the game.
The introduction of Bankola Cole and Kwane Quee revitalized East End Lions, creating significant problems for the Mighty Blackpool defense, which opted for a more defensive stance.

With this victory, East End Lions will represent Sierra Leone in the CAF Confederation Cup next season, receiving a $100,000 preparation package from CAF to support their continental campaign.
Mohamed Fofonah of East End Lions was awarded the Man of the Match. As trophies and medals were presented to the winning team, it was a somber moment for Mighty Blackpool, whose players walked off the pitch without their medals, citing dissatisfaction with officiating.
