Nine in Jain for alleged conspiracy to commit felony and larceny from vessel

The accused persons Momoh Kamara, Abdul Salam Kamara, Lamin Sesay, James Kanu, Alhaji Bangura, Junior Amara, Alusine Kamara, Papany Mansaray and Gibrila Turay made their first appearance before Magistrate Sahr Keikura of Court No. 1 in Freetown on the 5th July, 2021 for alleged conspiracy to commit felony and larceny from vessel contrary to section 15 (1) of the Larceny Act 1916.

According to police charged sheets, the accused persons are charged with two counts, count one of conspiracy to commit a felony to wit Larceny from Vessel. It is alleged in count one that the accused persons on a date unknown between the 8th June, 2021 and on the 9th June, 2021 at Kent, in the Waterloo judicial district, in the Western  Area Rural of the Republic of Sierra Leone did conspire and steal six  original main engine compressor valued twelve thousand , five  hundred United States Dollars ($12,500,00) equivalent to one  hundred and twenty five million Leones (Le125,000,000/00), sixteen  original fresh water machine valued seven thousand, eight hundred United States Dollars ($7,800) equivalent to seventy eight million Leones (Le78,000,000/00), fourteen original frozen ducting of cool room valued one hundred and eighty thousand United States Dollars ($180,000) equivalent to one billion, eight hundred million Leones (le1,800,000,000/00), seventeen original engine motor starter valued three thousand, two hundred  and fifty United States Dollars etc.  total valued of two billion, two hundred and thirty eight million, six hundred and twenty thousand Leones (Le2, 238,620,000/00) property of Chung Gang Fishing Company. It is alleged in count two that the accused persons on a date unknown between the 8th June, 2021 and on the 9th June, 2021 at Kent, in the Waterloo judicial district, in the Western Area Rural of the Republic of Sierra Leone did steal the above the items.

State Prosecutor is ASP. Daboh said because of time she asked for a date. Defense Lawyer A.T.Bangura made an application for bail for all accused persons pursuant to section 79 subsections 2 and 3 of the Criminal Procedure Act No. 32 of 1965. The Magistrate denied the accused persons bail.  The State Prosecutor is ASP. Daboh while A.T.Bangura representing all accused persons. The matter has been adjourned to the 9th July, 2021.
