The Audit Committee of the Sierra Leone Immigration Services (SLIS) has conducted an inspection of key operational equipment used at Freetown International Airport (FIA) in Lungi to assess their functionality and effectiveness in supporting immigration services.

The equipment inspected included enrolment cameras, scanners, computer monitors, and electronic gate booths provided by Securiport.

The purpose of the visit was to evaluate the operational efficiency and reliability of the equipment and to ensure that immigration services continue to meet international aviation standards while delivering high-quality customer service and maintaining passenger satisfaction.

As part of the assessment, members of the Audit Committee observed the equipment in real-time operation and reviewed its performance under normal working conditions. The inspection revealed that all the equipment was functioning effectively and remained in good working condition.

While expressing satisfaction with the current state of the equipment, the Committee advised the Freetown International Airport immigration team to create additional space for visa sticker machines. The recommendation is intended to improve processing efficiency, reduce waiting times, and enhance the overall experience of passengers and customers at the airport.

The Committee emphasized the importance of maintaining modern and efficient immigration systems to support secure border management and facilitate smooth passenger movement through the airport.

The Sierra Leone Immigration Services reaffirmed its commitment to providing professional, efficient, and customer-focused services, always assuring all inbound and outbound passengers of its full cooperation and support.

The inspection forms part of the institution’s ongoing efforts to strengthen operational standards, improve service delivery, and uphold the best international practices in immigration management.
