A three-day training programme held at the Makeni City Council from Tuesday, 9 June to Thursday, 11 June, has strengthened the capacity of project staff from three implementing partners: Defence for Children International Sierra Leone (DCI-SL), Women Against Violence and Exploitation in Society Sierra Leone (WAVES-SL), and the Falaba District Women Network (FDWN).

The training is part of the Women and Girls Empowerment (WAGE) Project, which is being implemented in Karene, Bo, and Falaba districts.

Sullay Kalokoh, Project Manager of Defence for Children International Sierra Leone, explained that the training focused on improving staff skills in report writing, particularly activity-based reporting aligned with project outputs, field indicators, and overall project outcomes.

He added that the training would significantly contribute to the effective implementation of the project, which aims to empower women and adolescent girls for self-reliance through education, skills development, safety, participation, and climate-smart knowledge using a sustainable approach.

“Empowered staff with the right tools, knowledge, and skills increase the likelihood of project success,” Kalokoh emphasized.

Also speaking, Mary Finda Fellah of WAVES Sierra Leone commended the WAGE Project Secretariat for organizing the training, describing it as impactful and timely.

She noted that beyond report writing, the training also equipped participants with strategies to address challenges encountered during project implementation.

Fellah further stated that the knowledge gained would help ensure that targeted beneficiaries effectively apply the skills and lessons acquired.

The three-day training comes at a critical time as the 2025-2028 WAGE Project gains momentum in its implementation across the three target districts.
