A 55-year-old man, Yayah Kamara, has been granted bail by Magistrate Mustapha Brima Jah of Pademba Road Court No. 1 in Freetown after appearing on two counts of alleged criminal offences.

The accused is facing charges of Conspiracy to Commit a Crime, contrary to law, and Malicious Damage, contrary to Section 51 of the Malicious Damage Act of 1861.

According to the particulars of the offence, on Sunday, 10 May 2026, at Sorie Town, Gloucester, in the Western Area of Freetown, the accused allegedly conspired with other persons unknown to commit a crime.

The second count alleges that on the same date and at the same location, Yayah Kamara maliciously damaged ten bundles of zinc, one double door, sixteen corner ridges, and other assorted items valued at Sixty-Four Thousand Two Hundred and Eighty Leones (Le64,280). The items were reportedly being transported in a Mitsubishi Jeep bearing registration number ARQ 996 and are said to be the property of Lawyer Sallu Ngombulango.

When the charges were read and explained to the accused, no plea was taken, as the matter is before the court on committal proceedings.

The prosecutor, Chief Superintendent of Police Tommy B. Zizer Esq., informed the court that the accused had been served with a copy of his statement.

The defendant confirmed receipt of the statement.

Magistrate Jah subsequently granted bail to the accused in the sum of Two Hundred and Fifty Thousand Leones (Le250,000), with one surety in like sum.

The court further ordered that the surety must be a resident of Freetown; be employed by a reputable organization; produce a valid national identification card; and have the bail approved by the Deputy Assistant Registrar.

The matter was adjourned to 10 June 2026 for further proceedings.
