The District Registration Officer of the National Civil Registration Authority (NCRA), Amie Patricia Lebbie has disclosed that two NCRA staffs have been replaced for failure to wear facemask while on duty in Bo.

Speaking to this Medium at Samie, one of the registration Centers in Bo, Mrs Lebbie said that they have warned all their staff to adhere to COVID  19 regulations to serve as examples to those who are showing up for the registration at the NCRA centres in Bo District.

She however said that ‘’ I am very happy because of the large turnout of people at the center. When activity started in Freetown they were begging people  within the first three days to come  to the centers but it is the opposite in Bo District as on  the first day of the activity , there was a huge turn out .’’

“This is a big success for the people of Bo District in the Southern region and this shows the people in this part of the country are responsible and doing it right. The benefits for their exercise is enormous but I want the people to know that  they will get their national  ID Card, ECOWAS Card and job will be awarded to people base on their national identification number.’’ Madam Lebbie said.

She pointed out the challenges saying: “sometimes the system will go down or becomes slow but there is prompt intervention to ensure that the sysyem works very well,”

She added that because of the huge turnout “I am not sure there will be negotiation for the extension of the ten days slated for the exercise if only the people continue coming out in large numbers.’

Madam Lebbie said that “sometimes some people complained that they are marginalized but in this 21 century youths don’t give chance to the old to be first registered and we are overcoming some of these challenges.’’

‘’ I want to restate that I am much satisfied with the turnout and I appreciate everybody including the media in the district  for educating the public to see the need to turn out in large number for the confirmation of their data and register citizens and non-citizens,’’ Madam Lebbie said.

Speaking to A-Z Newspaper some residents described the process to be slow while others are pleading for the extension of time.

They are calling on the NCRA staff to always make sure that they report for duty early.

It could be recalled that the National Civil Registration Authority (NCRA) informed the general public that it has received approval from the Government of Sierra Leone to conduct the Confirmation of Personal Details of people who have registered with the Authority and to register those who have not yet registered with the NCRA
