The accused person Abdulrahman Denkeh has made another appearance before Magistrate Sahr Keikura of Court No.1 on the 28th June, 2021 at the Pademba Court in case of fraudulent conversion contrary to the Laws of Sierra Leone.
According to police charge sheets, the accused person is charged with four counts of fraudulent conversion. It is alleged in count one that the accused person on the 10th July, 2020 at Zizer garage old road Brima lane Kissy Freetown, fraudulently converted to his own use and benefit certain property. That is to say one Renault Laguna car valued fifty million Leones (Le50, 000,000/00) entrusted to him by Suliaman Sesay for purpose of sales property of Alie Kamara. It is alleged in count two that the accused person on the 12th July, 2020 at zizer garage old road Brima lane Kissy Freetown, fraudulently converted to his own use and benefit certain property. That is to say BMW 320 diesel car valued sixty million Leones (Le60, 000,000/00) entrusted to him by Suliaman Sesay for purpose of sales property of Alie Kamara.
It is alleged in count three that the accused person on the 15th October, 2020 at zizer garage old road Brima lane Kissy Freetown, fraudulently converted to his own use and benefits certain properties. That is to say one Mercedez Benz car C-220 Estate valued sixty million Leones (Le60, 000,000/00). It is alleged in count four that the accused person on the 10th July, 2020 at zizer garage old road Brima lane Kissy Freetown, fraudulently converted to his own use and benefit certain property. That is to say one sprinter Mercedez Benz 208D mini van valued one hundred and twenty million Leones (Le 120,000,000/00) entrusted to him by Suliaman Sesay for purpose of sales property of Alie Kamara.
Testifying in court the Police Witness (PW 1) Alie Kamara, a lawyer and a business man residing in London said he knew the accused person as his nephew. Witness said he recalled the dates of the incidents. PW 1 said he normally ship his cars through his mechanic Sulaiman. He said he authorized the mechanic to give the accused person the cars to show to his clients, which the accused had requested.
The witness described the models of the various cars that he had transported to Sierra Leone among them; are one Renault Laguna car valued fifty million Leones valued fifty million Leones (Le50, 000,000/00), BMW 320 diesel car valued sixty million Leones (Le60, 000,000/00), one Mercedez Benz car C-220 Estate valued sixty million Leones (Le60, 000,000/00) and one sprinter Mercedez Benz 208D mini van valued one hundred and twenty million Leones (Le 120,000,000/00).
He said the accuse person received four cars from Sulaiman, and later the accused person contacted him that a certain clients is interested in one of the vehicle. After some weeks, the witness said he did not receive any money as proceeds from the sales of the vehicle, and had to report the issue to the Criminal Investigations Department Freetown.
Later, PW1 said when he was in Freetown, himself and his driver was driving along the Waterloo highway when they saw the sprinter Mercedez Benz 208D mini van. Witness said they stopped the car and asked who sold the car to them. Someone replied that he bought the car from the said accused person.
When asked the accused person why he sold the car without giving the money to the owner, according the witness said the accused person replied that his plans to travel to France. He said the accused person was arrested, and later the police recovered Renault Laguna and the Mercedez Benz 208D mini van. Sergeant 9155 Macarthy D. is prosecuting while accused persons was represented by Lawyer W.C Elloba. The matter has been adjourned to the 5th July, 2021
