The Sierra Leone Water Company has successfully restored water supply to Mile 91 in Tonkolili District following a targeted maintenance exercise aimed at resolving longstanding water challenges in the community.
The operation was carried out under the approval of management and led by the Technical Director for SALWACO North, Ing. Augustine Forewa, alongside the Maintenance Manager, Ing. Jah Edward Toby. They were supported by the newly transferred Station Manager for Mile 91, Ing. Abdulai Charles Kargbo, and a team of technical staff who worked to fix the fault affecting water distribution.
As a result of the intervention, residents of Mile 91 are now assured of a steady supply of safe and clean drinking water.
This development aligns with the vision of SALWACO’s Managing Director, Tiideni Hawa Jabbi, who assumed office in November 2025. Upon taking office, she conducted a nationwide assessment of water supply challenges across all operational areas and committed to addressing critical issues affecting service delivery.
Her leadership has emphasized transforming SALWACO into a fully functional and financially viable institution, with concrete steps already being taken to achieve this goal.
Residents are encouraged to make responsible use of the restored water supply and to promptly pay their water rates when due, to support the sustainability of the service.
SALWACO has reaffirmed its commitment to continue improving water supply systems across the country, ensuring broader access to safe and affordable drinking water for communities nationwide.
