The President of the Sierra Leone Football Association (SLFA), Babadi Kamara, held a productive meeting with Drucil Taylor, Esq., a member of the CAF Disciplinary Committee and former Chairman of SLFA’s Ethics Board.
The discussions focused on strengthening football governance and legislation, as well as identifying pathways to conclude the long-standing investigation into the alleged 2014 match-fixing case involving certain players and officials.
President Kamara emphasized the SLFA’s firm commitment to securing a definitive resolution to the matter, noting that its protracted duration now exceeding a decade requires urgent yet procedurally sound closure to uphold justice, transparency, and the integrity of the sport.
He also expressed appreciation to Mr. Taylor for agreeing to the meeting and highlighted the significance of having a Sierra Leonean serving at the continental level within CAF, describing such representation as both commendable and beneficial to national football administration.
Drucil Taylor, Esq. provided a detailed status briefing on the 2014 investigation and related disciplinary matters handled by the former Ethics Board prior to its dissolution in 2023. He reaffirmed his commitment to cooperate with current SLFA structures by providing access to relevant files and documentation and assisting the present Ethics Board in gaining full procedural and factual understanding of the case.
The engagement concluded with both parties agreeing that adherence to due process, institutional continuity, and evidentiary clarity will be essential in achieving a lawful and final resolution of the outstanding issues, thereby safeguarding the credibility of Sierra Leonean football.
