SALWACO Managing Director Joins Sierra Leone Delegation At Global Water and Sanitation Connect

Sierra Leone Water Company (SALWACO) Managing Director, Ing. Tiideni Hawa Jabbi, and Director of Projects, Ing. Yankuba Jusu Tarawally, are participating in the four-day AfWASA Global Water and Sanitation Connect 2026 in Budapest, Hungary.

The event is organized by the Hungarian Water Partnership in collaboration with the African Water and Sanitation Association under the theme “Shaping the Future of Water Together.” The forum brings together water sector leaders, development partners, and technical experts to explore innovative and sustainable solutions for water and sanitation service delivery.

The Sierra Leone delegation is led by Deputy Minister of Water Resources and Sanitation, Ing. Francis Alpha Kallon. It includes the Managing Director of SALWACO, the Director General of the National Water Resources Management Agency (NWRMA), the Managing Director of the Guma Valley Water Company, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Water Resources and Sanitation, the Director of Water at the Electricity and Water Regulatory Commission (EWRC), the Director of Projects at SALWACO, the Director of Hydrological Services at NWRMA, and the Performance Tracking Manager at the Ministry of Water Resources and Sanitation.

The composition of the delegation reflects Sierra Leone’s strong commitment to advancing sustainable water and sanitation solutions through international collaboration and knowledge exchange.

Day One focuses on drinking water purification technologies, water treatment solutions, rainwater harvesting systems, and hydrological research.

Day Two will feature a technical site visit to the Budapest Central Wastewater Treatment Plant, where delegates will observe advanced wastewater treatment and management practices.

On Day Three, participants will attend the Planet Budapest 2026 – Future of Water Conference, engaging in high-level dialogue and panel discussions with Hungarian and international partners, including the Global Water Operators’ Partnerships Alliance, the European Water Association, and the Global Water Partnership.

The programme will conclude on Day Four with a guided tour of Budapest, providing opportunities for cultural exchange and professional networking.

SALWACO’s participation, alongside other key institutions in Sierra Leone’s water sector, underscores ongoing efforts to strengthen institutional capacity, promote innovation, and build strategic partnerships aimed at improving water supply and sanitation services across the country.
