The Southern Region Football Association (SRFA) officially commenced a seven-day CAF Diploma D Coaching Course today, Tuesday, February 3, 2026, at the Pastoral Centre in Bo.
Speaking at the opening ceremony, SRFA Secretary, Mr. Yayah Sesay, expressed appreciation to the Executive Committee of the Sierra Leone Football Association (SLFA), under the leadership of Mr. Babadi Kamara, for providing the opportunity to host the course.
Mr. Sesay encouraged the Liberian facilitators to deliver high-quality instruction and share their expertise with participating coaches.
“Please, trainers, these are your students. Make sure you give them the best. We are confident in your abilities, as you have promised,” he said.
He also urged participating coaches to pay close attention throughout the training and fully utilize the knowledge to be imparted, stressing that this is a critical pathway for the development of grassroots football in the country.
“Coaches, please remain focused, as you have invested in this course. The key responsibility is for you to pass on this knowledge to your players on behalf of the SRFA and the SLFA Executive Committee. With these words, I declare the programme officially open,” Mr. Sesay concluded.
In a related development, the Northwest Region Football Association, in collaboration with the Sierra Leone Football Association (SLFA), has also commenced the CAF D License Coaching Course. The colourful opening ceremony was held at the newly constructed Port Loko Mini Stadium.
The CAF D License course forms part of SLFA’s ongoing commitment to strengthening grassroots football development and enhancing the technical capacity of coaches nationwide.
A total of 30 coaches from across the Northwest Region are participating in the training programme. Officials noted that the region remains committed to developing qualified coaches as a foundation for sustainable football growth.
These CAF D coaching courses are currently running simultaneously in other regions across the country, reflecting SLFA’s nationwide approach to football development.
