The National Revenue Authority (NRA) on Monday officially handed over the renovated Jendema Community Health Centre to the people of Soro Gbema Chiefdom and the Ministry of Health, reaffirming its commitment to community-centred development through its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programme.
The handover ceremony attracted traditional authorities, representatives of key institutions, and community stakeholders, marking a significant milestone in efforts to improve access to primary healthcare services in the area.
Speaking on behalf of the Authority, Mr. Mujiru I. I. Kallon said that while the NRA is primarily mandated to mobilise domestic revenue, it also recognises its responsibility to support initiatives that promote social welfare and national development. He explained that, with the support of the Commissioner-General, the once under-resourced facility has now been transformed into a functional primary healthcare centre.
Mr. Kallon noted that the renovation included the installation of electricity and improved amenities, with additional enhancements still underway. He also acknowledged the contributions of Mr. King and Mr. Salim Feika, whom he said provided critical support that contributed to the successful completion of the project.
Responding on behalf of the Chiefdom, the Chiefdom Speaker, Mr. A. J. Zoker, commended the NRA and its partners, describing the project as a clear demonstration of how taxpayers’ money is being translated into tangible benefits for communities. He said the renovated facility would significantly improve healthcare delivery for residents of Jendema and surrounding communities.
Officials said the project underscores the NRA’s broader commitment to complementing revenue mobilization with strategic social investments aimed at improving the quality of life of the people it serves.
The renovated health centre was formally handed over to the community and the Ministry of Health by the Director of Administration of the NRA, Madam Fredricka Kella, on behalf of the Authority.
