Austin Jusu, 37, also known as Hero, made his first appearance on Wednesday before Magistrate Mustapha Braima Jah of Pademba Road Court No. 1, facing a charge of obtaining money by false pretences, contrary to Section 32(1) of the Larceny Act, 1916.
According to the particulars of the offence, between 30 September and 31 December 2023, in Freetown, Jusu allegedly obtained the sum of one hundred thousand Leones (Le 100,000) from Abubakarr Mohamed Jabbie by falsely claiming that he would supply PVC windows and doors, knowing that this promise was false.
When the charge was read and explained to the defendant, he did not enter a plea.
Prosecutor Inspector Mabel M. Tarawally served the defendant with the relevant documents.
Magistrate Jah refused bail, citing the seriousness of the offence, and remanded Jusu to the Male Correctional Facility in Freetown. The case was adjourned to 26 January 2026 for the next hearing.
