The Project Coordinator Street Child Sierra Leone, Kono District Mani Glenis Ngaujah says the Intervention of Government and its partners have helped reduced the spate of child labour in the district.

“Act now end child labour” is this year’s Theme given by the United Nations.
Talking on the importance of this year’s Theme Denis Mani explained that, the theme is timely because the International Labour Organization (ILO), United Nation and treaties concern have talked a lot about the issue of child labour noting that it is now time for them to act and end child labour in the district, the country and the world by extension.
He therefore called on all parties, MDA, NGO, INGO Government, Civil Society organization parents and caregivers to put hands on desk to end child labour at all levels though it may be difficult.
Meanwhile, local gossip have it that aged labour which has not attracting the attention of any Civil Society and humanitarian organizations is gradually making head way in the municipality of Koidu where a good number of aged people are engaged in certain jobs that are not fit for their health.
He cited a particular popular restaurant in Koidu City that has hired the service of an aged man to be washing dishes and to fetch water for the running of the said restaurant.
