Strengthening Healthcare Delivery… Bo District Council Hands Over Cost-Recovery Drugs to DHMT

The Bo District Council has officially handed over a consignment of cost-recovery drugs to the District Health Management Team (DHMT) in a ceremony held at Falaba Section, Bo City.

The event marked another significant milestone in the ongoing partnership between the Bo District Council and the DHMT. Key figures at the ceremony included the District Council Chairman, Mr. Victor Korseh Hindowa; the District Medical Officer (DMO), Dr. Amara Steven Ngigbai; the District Pharmacist, Mr. Bobor Bah; and the Head of the Health Committee of Bo City Council, Madam Zoker.

In his address, Chairman Hindowa reaffirmed the Council’s unwavering commitment to supporting quality healthcare delivery across the district. He highlighted that the cost-recovery initiative aims to ensure that essential medicines remain accessible, affordable, and sustainable for every community in Bo District.

Upon receiving the consignment, DMO Dr. Amara Steven Ngigbai expressed his appreciation to the Bo District Council for its continued support in strengthening the local health system. He announced that the distribution of the medicines would begin with five Peripheral Health Units (PHUs): Jemba, Gerihun, Sumbuya, Koribondo, and Mongera, as part of the first phase of implementation.

District Pharmacist Mr. Bobor Bah assured stakeholders that the medicines would be managed in strict adherence to national standards and cost-recovery guidelines to ensure transparency and accountability in stock management.

The ceremony was attended by representatives from the DHMT, Ward Development Committees, Health for All Coalition, Civil Society Organizations, the Office of National Security (ONS), and community leaders. They all commended the Bo District Council for its proactive leadership and ongoing efforts to improve primary healthcare delivery across the district.

This initiative underscores the strong collaboration between the Bo District Council and the DHMT, a partnership driven by a shared vision to strengthen health systems and improve the well-being of residents across Bo District.
