Youth Arrested for Cable Theft and Malicious Damage

Mohamed Koroma, a 25-year-old pupil, made his first appearance before Magistrate John Manso Fornah of Pademba Road Court No. 2 on charges of larceny and malicious damage. Koroma faces two counts: larceny, contrary to Section 2 of the Larceny Act of 1916, and malicious damage, contrary to Section 51 of the Malicious Damage Act of 1861.

The particulars of the offence state that, on Tuesday, 14th October 2025, at Dadley Street, Regent, in the Western Area of Freetown, Koroma allegedly stole four rolls of 2.5mm electrical cable, each valued at three thousand five hundred Leones (Le 3,500), six rolls of 1.5mm cables, each valued at two thousand five hundred Leones (Le 2,500), and two rolls of 4mm electrical cables, each valued at four thousand five hundred Leones (Le 4,500). The total value of the stolen cables is stated to be thirty-eight thousand Leones (Le 38,000), property of Patrick Dauda Koroma.

Count two of the indictment charges Koroma with maliciously damaging the same items four rolls of 2.5mm cable, six rolls of 1.5mm cable, and two rolls of 4mm cable, all totaling thirty-eight thousand Leones (Le 38,000) in value, again belonging to Patrick Dauda Koroma.

When the charges were read and explained to him, Koroma pleaded not guilty.

Prosecutor Sergeant 3379 Ballay requested a short adjournment to present the first witness in the case. The defendant was not represented by legal counsel at the time.

Magistrate Fornah issued an order for a subpoena to be served on the absent prosecution witnesses and remanded the defendant to the Male Correctional Centre in Freetown.

The case has been adjourned to 10th November 2025 for further proceedings.
