Adamsay Fofanah, a housemaid, made her first appearance before Magistrate Augustine Brima Samura of Pademba Road Court No. 8 on a charge of fraudulent conversion, contrary to Section 20(iv)(a) of the Larceny Act of 1916.

According to the particulars of the offence, on Saturday, 4th October 2025, at Regent Road, Lumley, in the Western Area, Fofanah allegedly fraudulently converted to her own use or benefit the sum of sixty thousand Leones (Le 60,000), which had been entrusted to her by Sallay Conteh for safekeeping.

When the charge was read and explained to the defendant, no plea was entered.

The accused was not legally represented. The prosecution, led by Detective Police Constable 14898 Joseph Lamin Dumbuya, served the defendant in accordance with the new Criminal Procedure Act of 2024 and opposed bail on behalf of the prosecution.

Magistrate Samura, taking into account the seriousness of the charge, denied bail and remanded the defendant to the Female Correctional Facility in Freetown. The case has been adjourned to 27th October 2025.
