The Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security (MAFS), in partnership with IDinsight and supported by the Fund for Innovation in Development (FID), hosted a one-day Theory of Change (ToC) workshop to refine the implementation framework of the Government’s flagship Feed Salone strategy. The event took place on September 18 at Sierra Palms Hotel in Lumley.
The workshop brought together approximately 40 participants, including MAFS leadership, representatives of farmer organizations, managers of major agricultural projects, development partners such as FAO, WFP, and IFAD, as well as stakeholders from the private sector and research institutions.
In his opening remarks, the Minister of Agriculture, Dr. Henry Musa Kpaka, emphasized the importance of collective ownership, noting that the process would “map out how interventions deliver tangible impact for farmers and the nation.” He added that the workshop was critical to aligning efforts and ensuring the strategy fulfills its objectives.
Facilitators from IDinsight explained that the sessions focused on defining outcomes, refining causal pathways, and strengthening monitoring, evaluation, and learning systems. Participants also discussed how evidence-based approaches could drive measurable results under the Feed Salone initiative.
Officials disclosed that MAFS and IDinsight will now finalize the Theory of Change, develop priority indicators, and enhance data systems to guide the effective delivery of the Feed Salone strategy.
