Bike Rider Awaiting Sentence for False Pretenses

Mohamed Jalloh, a 25-year-old bike rider, has been remanded at the Pademba Road Male Correctional Facility in Freetown, pending ruling and sentencing in two separate files the accused is standing trial before Magistrate Mustapha Braima Jah of Pademba Road court no.1 in Freetown on a count charge to wit Obtaining Money by False Pretense  contrary to Section 32(1) of the Larceny Act 1916.

According to the first case file, the accused, in May 2025 at Spur Loop, Wilberforce, Freetown, with intent to defraud, obtained the sum of five thousand Leones (Le 5,000) from Francis Michael by falsely pretending that he had a single room and parlour for rent, knowing such information to be false.

In the second file, Jalloh also obtained the sum of two thousand Leones (Le 2,000) from Gbessay Lamin by pretending he had a single room for rent, again knowing the claim to be false.

When the charges were put to him, the accused pleaded guilty in both matters. He was not represented by legal counsel.

The cases were prosecuted by Police Constable 17649 B. Kargbo.

After listening to the plea in mitigation, Magistrate Jah ordered that Jalloh be remanded in custody due to the seriousness of the offences, and adjourned both matters to 8th September 2025 for ruling and sentencing.
